1 cup salted butter, softened
1/2 cup+ 1 T. cocoa powder, sifted
3 cups+1 T. powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-3 tablespoons milk or cream
Whip butter and cocoa together until smooth. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides.
Whip in vanilla and powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, and scrape the sides again.
Add milk 1 tablespoon at a time until frosting reaches desired consistency.
Scrape sides and whip again until light, fluffy and smooth.
